Got to Wk 9 last november before injury struck and I had to stop. Now fully recovered and have had a go at getting back into it, but don't know why, but it is just not happening at the moment. I see runners out and feel that I should be doing that, but go home and get into the routine of things at home and the idea of going for a run has gone again. Perhaps I need a goal? or a running buddy?, to maybe get me moving again. Any suggestions?? I have put on the weight that I lost from running last year and more than likely will have to restart at first week again. I am really envious of everyone that has reached their goal, and I know that I need to make more effort. I even got my Park Run barcode last year with the full intention of doing this before injury stuck.
Having just read back what I have read so far, I am formulating an ACTION PLAN....... Tonight, get home - get gear on - get on treadmill - see what I can do.......
Will let you know tomorrow how this plan goes!

Hi, welcome back, I have also just returned and now on wk2 r2 as got to wk7 at the beginning of the year then fell ill. I am determined to do it this time and want to do it all the way through. I have been putting on my running gear then I feel like I have to do it (also doing it on the treadmill as not brave enough to go out yet & am trying to lose weight ).
Started on treadmill last time and had made it outside before knee refused to do any more. Will do treadmill for a couple of weeks and see how I go. Would however like to get outside again.
Take ot from one who knows - just take the plunge and start! It doesn't matter where, when, or which podcast to start with, just get back out there. If you don't enjoy it, stop. But at least have a go!
I was exactly the same as you - I did C25K last year and graduated in time to do the Race for Life in July. Then life (and a stressful house move and settling into a new place) got in the way and I lapsed. All through the autumn I felt I should get back out there, but little worries kept holding me back. Things like where should I start in the programme? Would I find a route in the new place? Would I enjoy it again? Stupid questions that are easily answered by just getting out there.
In the end, on January 1st, I just got my kit on, put on the Week 1 podcast and went out there. I can honestly say that within 2 minutes of starting the warm-up walk I was really REALLY looking forward to starting to run. And when I did start, I was amazed at how much easier it was than I was expecting. For me, even after 6 months off, and bearing in mind I basically graduated, then stopped last year, with no time to consolidate my progress and fitness, week 1 was way too easy. When Laura told me to stop running after the 1st minute, I did, but I laughed! For the rest of the run, I ran most of the 60-second runs together in pairs, by running through the 90 second walk in the middle. In effect, it was more or less a week 3 run.
It was great that I did better than expected, and at least I knew where I was and where to pick the podcasts up the next time. And I seriously got the bug again! I 'knew' that I enjoyed the amazing feeling at the end of a good run, but I'd forgotten just how good it is.
The other thing you should know, from me, is that the second time through the programme is significantly easier than the first. Youre body is re-learning something it's done before, not being persuaded to do something it never ever dreamed of, and the difference is clear. At least it was to me.
In short, if you want to get back out there (and the very fact that you've blogged about this suggests that you do), just do it!! I almost guarantee you'll enjoy it, and be really glad you did. 7
Thanks to you all. I made it last night, returning with a week 5 run, much to my amazement. No records for speed though, and did have to oush my self a bit, but I did it! Now on to the next run tomorrow morning. What better way is there to start a day off work?
