I've just completed week 1 and feeling chuffed to bits 😊 I had tried before but really struggled with day one (I couldn't run for 60 seconds). Now my fitness seems to have improved and I did it !!

I am starting way below everyone else - super out of shape and overweight. I have done week 1 three times. I am really struggling to get done with week one and move on to week two.

How did you overcome?

I had a lot of pain on the outside of my ankles and lower legs so I bought compression "socks" but that made my ankles cramp up 10 minutes in so I ditched them for now. I then realized my running form was bad, don't lift my knees enough, more of a shuffle and not landing on the balls of my feet, so I am working on that and it does seem to help with my endurance. I probably ran 7 of the 8 sprints in week 1.

How do I know when I am ready to move on?

Hi ksettle, you aren't meant to be "sprinting". Just a very slow, gentle jog is all that is required. Many of us start just running at a brisk walking pace. Well done for your determination. 😃

Hi, you are not behind / below anyone. "Super out of shape" and "overweight" get used all the time here!

You really just need to jog lightly. It can be running as slow as you walk as long as you do the running motion. It's a beginner's programme! Don't be trying to run before you can...run. :)

Check out a few posts like... there's a few who did "pre-week 1" runs ... I_can_run for instance springs to mind as a recent inspiration... they are moving nicely through the programme now :)
