New shoes, crampy legs!

So, just finished W2R3 with my new sneaks/trainers and this was the toughest run yet. I could barely manage the same pace for the brisk walk warm up that I had been for the last 2 weeks and by the end of the second run cycle, I had a cramp in my hamstring. I took a moment to stretch it out, then pushed through the rest of the run but man, am I feeling it now.

I have a theory about why this run was kinda sucky: I haven't eaten much today (a few eggs and some sausage), haven't had my usual amount of water, and I'm breaking in new shoes. What are your thoughts?

PS - pic of new trainers attached - happy running, everyone!!

Dehydration will do it for sure.

Were you fitted with those shoes or did you pick them yourself? If the fit isn't quite right that would have an effect. Looking good mind you👍

Also could just be a bad run.

Fingers crossed for the next one 👍😁

I was fitted for them at a sports store - they have a gel sole which was recommended over foam soles and they have anti-pronation/anti-supernation with a really good arch support and sturdy heel cup. I'm thinking it's dehydration more than anything. I'm going to really push the water today and do a lot of stretching.

Thank you!

Hi,

I used to have cramps when I didn't drink enough. Even if it was only on the run day (afternoon run).

With shoes, I am not an expert and I know they can affect hugely. It is the most important peace of gear for runners. But I am not sure if they can cause increase the crumps...

Nevertheless, sometimes it is just bad run day for no particular reason. So fingers crossed for your next run.

Thanks! I'm going to drink a lot of water today, do some stretching and see what happens tomorrow.

Hope it will help ;)

Remember to drink plenty of water or weak teas everyday.

Nice shoes; I want some 😂.

A few have already mentioned dehydration can cause cramp.

My feet often cramp when they’re cold could this apply to your crampy bits?
