Disappointing finish to the week

So completed WK3 today. Been a bit poorly so 2 days since last run. Struggled to finish last 3 minutes - legs felt heavy and achey. A bit worried about next weeks step up to 5 minute runs. Also feel quite cold when normally I’m hot at the end of run whatever the weather. Any tips? Don’t want to lose my mojo now!!

You did well, but probably, you were not back up to full health..better to take an extra day or to to make sure you feel well:)

Gentle exercise on those rest days can keep you moving:) Some leg exercises could be useful.

Next Week's runs are fine..they just follow on; all you have to do is take it really slowly and steadily. Go as gently as you like, try to and lightly, kissing the ground with your feet is what i call it:)

Maybe a brisk walk to check you are feeling back up to par, would help too.

As for the mojo? They hide under your running shoes...as soon as you put the shoes on, you will see it:) You are going to be just fine:)

Thanks so much for your reply. Good advice - I may try and go for a gentle tomorrow and run again on Wednesday. I definitely need to start some leg exercises, I’m doing some stretches but it’s probably not quite enough.

Your mantra of “slow and steady” goes through my head a lot !!

It does work... I am repeating C25K after a long spell on the IC, and I am really going very slow and steady... I am on Week 4..just off now :)

Try these exercises, they are so useful and many of us did them alongside C25K:)

Great thanks - I’ll give them a go. Enjoy your run!

I always get totally fooled by illness...my mind is raring to go...so i go...but its a struggle & then you realise that illness & running dont mix!!!get yourself better & you will be fine.i am also ill at the moment & i spent yesterday talking myself out of going for a run in the sunshine even though i clearly wasnt well enough!!!rest up 😊

I will, thank you! I suppose I’m worried that if I miss too many days I might slip backwards and I’m so determined to keep going with this. I’ve never succeeded in keeping up plans around dieting and fitness but I really think I can stick to this plan, particularly with all the help and support you get on here!

Hope you’re feeling better soon!

I felt & still feel exactly the same!!!its a great feeling to succeed at this but so frustrating when illness gets in the way!!!but you will be fine 😊

You will run better and enjoy yourself far more when you are well, than attempting to run when not fully well. It takes much longer to become fit enough for physical exertion than it does to recover enough for normal daily routines.

You will normally not notice any loss of condition until a fortnight or so has passed and even then the loss is minimal.

That’s reassuring to know. Thank you 😊
