A lot of the weight that is lost when somebody starts out is simply liquids (water) and maybe some visceral fat ( which is the easiest to lose) . "They" say that half a kilo or 1 pound of weight per week is all we can sustainably hope to lose and even that with quite some effort. Unfortunately the kind of high energy "rubbish" food that we are prone to eat these days puts weight on easily and faster than we can lose it - and having gained it over several years, it takes a long time to lose it with a lot more effort required than it took to eat/drink it. As far as I know, only good eating habits (real home prepared and cooked food , not commercially manufactured stuff, no high energy density "treats" , no sugary drinks or alcohol and hard work is the only answer to this.

Keep going, it will continue to fall off but not necessarily in nicely organised chunks as we would wish. Don't worry about daily readings as weight can jump around but consider more the week to week position. If you eat less and exercise more, you will steadily lose weight. I'm losing about 1lb per week, which I think is healthier and more sustainable. I don't feel as if I'm making any major sacrifices as I still eat things from time to time that I fancy that are unhealthy. Also, with running, I seem more reluctant to eat unhealthily given the effort it takes!

I don't think I have ever really eaten Health ? Born in 1960 I don't do fast food I started to pile on weight last year I didn't do anything different ? I was always that skinny person / slim person , 2018 I am over weight and hate my body I think I am almost over the menopause 🤔

Definitely don't want to do the Joe Wicks / thing ... That's just to intense ?

Yep the menopause does it without one eating what would be considered in excess. But don't hate your body as you have control to a great extent over how it looks. I've decided that biological changes will not get the better of me. I'm between 0.5 - 1 stone above where I should be and am too aiming for weight loss but I don't think it's my only motivation. I enjoy my food but the pay off has to be that I exercise more frequently as I no longer burn off the fat as I use to. Either way, a change of lifestyle has all round benefits and as I get older its importance becomes much clearer.

Sticks with the running as it will probably improve how you feel about yourself owing to the positive impact of exercise and given the challenges you are overcoming this will probably also boost your self esteem. This forum also provides a lot of advice, laughs and support so you have come to the right place!

Weight loss can depend on so many factors. If you're doing more exercise you'll gain more muscle which might make it seem like you're not losing weight, but you are as the fat portion is decreasing.

Do your scales tell you fat and muscle percentages? If so just look at those, not the total number. So long as fat is decreasing, you're doing great.

I've lost 19.5lb since last January through exercise. It takes a while but the results should last longer (provided I don't retreat to the couch!)

To be fair I keep away from the scales most of the time .

I just know by looking in the mirror and put my clothes on that I am overweight ,

I have not weighed myself since starting this programme ,

That was me, hardly weighed myself with scales previously and based my size on the fit of my clothes. The scales that I did use were faulty, giving me a sense of security and I had put on nearly a stone without even realising it! Big mistake and why I have taken up running and changing my diet. I was so worried I also invested in a pair of Nokia Cardio smart scales!

C25K is not a weight loss programme, but it will tone you up and make you lose inches as well as making you fit.

There is further advice regarding this in the guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

Stick with it, it is worth it.
