Feeling really demotivated, Did week 2 r1 last Monday pain in my legs has been really bad especially the left knee. Bought new running shoes on Saturday but have not felt able to run, don’t want to risk making things worse. Have started doing some stretches instead to see if this helps . Any other tips as I don’t want to give up?
Week 2: Feeling really demotivated, Did week 2 r... - Couch to 5K
Week 2
I found that in the beginning my knees really hurt but as i progressed through the programme they got less & less painful & now i am at the 30 minute mark i can barely feel them.i think it takes some time for knees to strengthen up.in the meantime get some good knee supports...stretch alot before & after running.ice if needs be & hopefully they will ease up 😊
Warming up well...and stretching after every single run...try to land very very lightly. I call it kissing the ground with your feet
Try these exercises too...

Try wearing your new shoes inside and run them in a bit.. tee hee... see how you go when you head out. Steady and slow
Could you walk the w2 r1 again? Rather than running just speed up in the run segments. This would get you back out there and keep you moving.
Are you in so much pain that you have to take over the counter medication, low strength paracetamol eg.
If you Google NHS website and others they advise for knee pain to keep moving even if you have to take pain relief. Cocodamol eg. and for other situations even much stronger.
If no medication needed that’s good but if needed use it to keep mobile. Voltarol Pain-eze cream magic.
Also if they suit you better than already suggested by Oldfloss , download patient .co. uk / knee pain exercises. It gives you 5 and descriptions. The illustrations are there also but a lot more paper if you want a hard copy.
I have a condition called pseudo gout which with vigorous exercise I am able to control. If it does get out of control I need to take Tramadol and Naproxene to hit the inflammation and pain. But it just saps it back to normal.
Gosh hopefully you just need the knee pain exercises twice/ three times a day as prescribed.
How is your injury🤔
Do you have self referral to a physio in you area🤔
Good luck in getting it sorted.Plenty of good advise from the forum.👍
