Woe is me. I have to have a cataract op next month and I won’t be able to run for a month after they told me😳 so if all goes to plan I may have time to graduate before the op , but then stop 🛑! Any sympathy, advise or experience would be great thanks .

Is it just running you are not allowed to do. Might be useful to do other exercises such as a stationary bike. Check with your medical team first though.

If you haven’t had this op before don’t worry, it’s so easy and absolutely amazing! The difference it will make to your life with your new improved vision, you’ll be able to see where your running 😁. It makes a big difference to the colours that you see as well, so it’s going to be the best time of year to have it done. I’m due my second one soon, it’s not quite ready. All the best, it’s worth it.

Thanks Dawn, that’s reassuring am a bit worried about the op but the surgeon seemed really confident it would be fine. Am looking forward to seeing more clearly!

Yes although a routine procedure to the front lense of the eye, it would be good if you have the time to graduate comfortably and stress free.

If the month off is what the ophthalemic surgeon prescribes. Not neogiatable I would advise.

You may ask what lighter exercise you are allow to do to keep you ticking over.Static bike, walking of course.Maybe very moderate exercise. Nothing strenuous.

I am not medical but I have had an aneurysm behind the eye 25 years ago, which left me blind in one eye.

At that time and even now for anyone with a retina (rear of the eye) weakness avoid excessive weights and never put your head below your heart. It can put extra pressure on the small blood vessels causing damage.

I hope you are able to finish the programme comfortably and keep yourself ticking over gently until you are allowed to continue after your procedure, of course.

Let the medical professionals do their job for you.

Good luck ,I am sure all will be good. Just time and your sight is precious.

Just get your sight right, you can get back to running anytime.. I've had Lazer surgery, it's was a piece of cake, easier than the dentist!😊
