Ankle injury

I’ve been running now since October and started the 5 to 10K programme a few weeks ago. In week 4 I ran for 45 minutes and was really pleased as it wasn’t as tough as I thought it was going to be. However, towards the end of the run my ankle started to ache and I haven’t been able to run for nearly two weeks now. I haven’t been to the doctors but have tried to self diagnose - it’s either Tendonitis or plantar fasciitis. I’m trying to rest it and apply ice packs when possible but it’s still uncomfortable when I put weight on it. I’m desperate to get back out running as I fear I will lose my stamina but know I shouldn’t. Any tips for a speedier recovery? BTW I’m in my late 50s so well aware injuries can take a hit longer to heal. 🙄

The appropriate treatment is always the most beneficial, but that can only be applied after an accurate diagnosis. Tendonitis and plantar fasciitis are very different conditions.

Seeing as this has persisted over several weeks of resting i would suggest that you get professional medical advice from a GP or physio.
