Lost my mojo 😣

So after completing R8W3 the middle of October 2017 I was hyped up for R9 and graduating but NO I got patella fermoral and had 2 undergo rest painkillers physio and eventually low impact exercises progressing to strengthening at the gym. So with knee strapped and a brand new pair of running trainers I decided to give it another go but started at R4 I'm now on W5R2 and I can't move passed R2 I'm knackered and where before I couldn't wait to get out quick enough for a run I'm hesitant nervous and scared what once was a joy is now an uneasy chore 😒 I want to go for a run but something is holding me back.... will I EVER get my running distance back or EVER feel the same about running 😭😭

I do think you will - maybe go easy on yourself and go back a bit in the programme - find the joy and build not only your strength but also your confidence πŸ€”

Thank u ebcroquet

You did have quite a long break and maybe week 4 was a bit optimistic- remember those early runs are all building to the later runs- physically and psychologically. So if you go back a bit further you will find that you are experiencing successes and this will reinforce the process of running. Your confidence will grow as part of this journey. You will be fine. Good to have you back!

I'm sorry that you have had such a frustrating time. I wonder whether just restarting from the beginning would be more enjoyable for you and enable you to build up your muscles and confidence post injury? There's no point in struggling along feeling "knackered and hesitant" for the sake of a few weeks. Re- starting well within your ability might give you a confidence boost & reassurance post injury.

Good luck! πŸ˜„

I think there's a few of us restarting after injury or illness ( myself included) so you are not alone. It takes the pressure off. πŸ˜„

3 months on the IC pursuant to a dislocated hip and I am doing couch to 10k again from the very beginning.

Did D1/W4 Thursday and all I can say is I STILL find it almost impossible to believe I will make it to 5 let alone 10! 😯

A long layoff is a long layoff and it is a bit demoralizing to have lost so much progress. There is also the fear that an injury will reoccur and our hopes of regaining the joy of long runs will be dashed.

Lot of new Gremlins to replace the ones we vanquished first time around...

Weather is rotten here. I really had to force myself out the door Thursday - ice today so that would be stupid now - for my run. But, it went great :)

Honestly, it really is the "gear up, go outside" part that's the hardest bit to do...the Run still takes care of itself, "success" or "practice", that hasn't changed πŸ˜‰

I really hope you get to run many more happy miles in your future. ☺

Thanks Irish-John I see you feel and understand what it's like you've made me feel a lot better that it's normal to be feeling like this and that there's hope...I will certainly start from the beginning and restart my journey in the hope of getting back to my old self πŸ–’ good luck to you and your journey πŸ˜‰
