Knee stops play!

Having graduated on December 23 2017 I have kept up 3 x 5k runs per week & love it!!! Even moved up to 6k, however worsening knee pain has caused me to break for a week to let the pain & swelling ease! Gutted! I had a acl reconstruction in the same knee about 15 yrs ago & im now 39. Has anyone had similar?? How long until the pain stops & does it mean an end to running? Please no!!!! Can anyone offer any guidance? Thank in advance!!!

I was there. My knee was the size of a handball and hurt the same. My problem was poor running shoes, no gait analysis and badly executed split squats (if you don't know how to do them properly learn quick before making my mistake).

Three months off running, weeks and weeks of physio & osteopath and they put me together in the end. 1.5 year later and I haven't had any issues since , am training for half marathon and run 4 times every week. Oh, and I do know how to do split squats and other knee/leg strengthening exercise between the runs.

Please seek professional help if pain and swelling persist, and I don't mean a friendly GP.
