I managed week 5 run 2 today really well. I took it slow and found it very managable. Surprisingly!
But Wednesday is 20 minutes I'm so worried about it. I havnt failed a run yet on this programme I don't want Wednesday to be the 1st.

Loads of people are going to tell you this...... just relax, stick to the plan, run slowly and you'll get there. We all freaked out when faced with that run, but we all got there. You'll do it - just take it easy, don't push too hard, remember to breath, and get ready for the grin at 20 mins!!!
Did you only do 8 mins today? W5R2 is supposed to be 8 mins run then 4 mins walk then another 8 mins run. So 20 mins total of which 4 mins in the middle is walking. On your next run you are just adding 4 minutes of extra running in the middle.
It'll be fine - the programme has been designed to build your body up to this point. W5r3 is all about the mind.
And if the worst happens and it doesn't quite go to plan, it's not a f*!l, it's a practice run. That's all.
Did mine yesterday and sailed through, nearly backed out at one point but I didn't and it went great. Think positive ❤️
And you wont fail this one. We all freaked and we all managed it 😊 xxx
Thanks everyone. Feel a bit more positive about it. I'm concentrating on the grin IanIW that should get me through it. Getting up early Wednesday morning before work to do this!
No such thing as f***... and why would there be?
Slow, steady, one foot in front of the other... me beside you whispering, "... gently does it, " in your ear!
You will be just fine
Ahhh love that
Hi Sarah I felt exactly the same last week, it seemed such a sudden shift. But I set off really slowly with some specially selected tracks to listen to and the minutes just passed... I found I wasn’t as fixated on counting seconds and minutes as for the shorter runs...there is some sort of alchemy that kicks in and makes what seems impossible doable!Very best of luck, hope you smash it!
Good luck! I did R2W5 today and found the second 8min run really tough towards the end. My R3 is on Thursday, can't wait to see how I get on and amazed I got this far. Apparently we're going to have lots of snow that day, just to make things interesting...
Hi Sarah, be positive, you can do it, you are ready 😊...
Start slowly, think of it in five minute chunks, stay steady and suddenly its done! You will be amazed at how wonderful you are....
Onwards and upwards 😊xx
I’ve just done w5r2 tonight and feel exactly the same! How the heck am I going to run for 20 minutes none stop? Like you I haven’t failed a run yet. I guess we should just have faith in the program! 🤷🏼♀️
The way I’ve always got through this one in the past is definitely taking it five minutes at a time. The first five mins is fine - I know I can do that by now. Then the next five minutes Is doable as that’s only just over the longest continuous eun so far. Then it’s half way and that boost keeps me going for the next five minutes. Then there are only five minutes left, and I really don’t want to give up now! Then it’s done! 😉
And yes, I have this one to face (again) in another few weeks time, so I’m telling myself from now that it’s absolutely going to be do-able! I’m hoping that if my mind believes it enough, my legs will be convinced...! 😊
You can do it! Trust yourself! Most important ... keep it slow
Hope your Wk5r3 went well! I'm now in the position you were when you wrote this post - ticked off the two lots of 8 minutes this morning, and now am faced with the 20 minute whopper on Friday! Look forward to hearing how yours went, giving me hope that this isn't going to kill me
As has been alluded to in earlie posts, this morning you ran for a total of 16minutes, interspersed with a 5 minute walk, so all-in-all 21 minutes of non-stop movement. So the jump is mostly psychological tbh.
If your followed the programme so far then your heart and lungs have done the cardio and your legs have put in the mileage. Running for more than 8 minutes will give you a chance to see the magic that happens when your body is allowed to settle into an unbroken rhythm - you will be surprised!
Hey. I'm doing mine today in about an hour! Ahhh c
I am feeling exactly the same - due to do wk5 r3 tomorrow! !
