Road to recovery part 2

Morning lovely running folk,

So, had a very anxious, restless sleep last night. Not because I was worried about the 25 minute run I had planned (Sadie-runs makes it a policy to never worry about forthcoming runs), but because of the weather. Super cold yesterday, and chance of frost this morning, so I was worrying about ice! I never run if it is icy, never! Woke at 4am, peered out the window, slept on and off until 5:30am with intermittent peers out of the window. But all looked good in balmy Beckenham - not a hint of frost on the cars hooray!

Coffee, water and 30 mins of quiet contemplation and I was off - layered up to the hilt as it was pretty nippy. I was very grateful for my buff, worn over my nose and mouth ninja style.

The run was glorious. Pretty much maintained the same steady pace of 6:51 min KMs (my happy pace) and completed 25 mins with ease. My legs felt good and strong, too. The sense of calm well-being I feel after a run is heavenly. Every time I run now, I am thankful I can run, and grateful. The more I think about it, the more I feel my 6 weeks out served a purpose and did me good. Taught me patience, and once back out again proved (to myself) how resilient and dedicated I can be. Never saw myself that way in the past.

Wishing you all happy running this week, and if you are on the IC for any reason, I wish you peace and patience.

What a super post, thank you.

It is so opportune for me and many of us. Listening to our bodies, that, "...voice that does not use words", is so, so hard sometimes.

You describe the feeling, for a run such as yours wonderfully..."the calm, well being" perfect:)

I am so, so glad, that you too are running and enjoying again... :) x

How amazing this running is...:)

Thank you darling Flossie.

Yes, listening to the body is a difficult thing to do, as you have to swipe ego and desire out of the way in order to hear it. Hmmmm. Sounds a bit Buddhist…

Thank you for always being a supporter and a cheerer-onner. You wisdom has helped me get this far.

xx

Thank you dear Sades. I actually quite like running in the cold! (It's ice and rain I hate!) How are you doing? xxx

Still not out yet 😩 but keeping positive. Great that you don’t mind the cold! I find it aggravates my chest. Grr. It will soon be spring ... Keep updating us, you’re inspiring me and it’s lovely to read. You’re doing brilliantly!

Do stay positive, Sades. Time out doesn’t mean you won’t be able to run ever again. I will keep everything crossed for warmer days, so you can ease back into it again. When you do, I will be cheering you all the way, my love. x
