I posted this 4 days ago in Miami but added it to my previous post so it got a bit lost , and reposting. Hope this is allowed:
Well today was R2 and with Miami back to normal I decided to run outside. Good old jet lag meant I was up and out in the dark at 5:00am . Hmmm think I’ll go back to room and take off my watch- only cops and robbers awake at this time (apart from middle aged jet lagged brits).
It was hard. No point pretending otherwise but I did it! It was interesting to compare treadmill with the street, on the one hand the treadmill is easier and there’s no chance of tripping over a kerb or a paving stone but , of course, you have to keep to the same speed for the whole 60 seconds (5.5mph in my case) , and I’m pretty sure I didn’t on the street run- particularly on the last two I felt myself slowing towards the end. Anyway , despite quite achy/stiff calves I’m feeling good - and I have 10 hours of inactivity on a plane later today to rest.
The one thing that surprised me this morning at 04:30 was that I was actually looking forward to running outside- by the fifth 60 second run somewhat less so... I had to smile when, as the sweat ran down my forehead and my legs were protesting at the cruel and unusual punishement I was putting them through, Knocking On Heavens door started playing through my earbuds.... still smiling now and genuinely feeling very energised. Post run face is still a red sweaty mess though
