Post Sepsis - Starting Again

One month after leaving hospital and it was a gentle toe in the water, literally alongside the water of the Irish Sea on windy Douglas Promenade, with Run 1 of Week 1 of Couch to 5k completed. As I forgot to turn on the GPS on my new Garmin 235 it thinks I was on a treadmill, so no lovely map. Curses. It was hard going, in that sepsis has a draining effect on your energy, but encouragingly on the last two minute runs, I was able to go a little faster. I covered a total of 2.54 miles including the warm up and warm down, and it is so great to get in the fresh air, and those lungs bursting again. So in four weeks from Graduate to starting again and if it wasn't for those pesky bugs I would have gotten away with it.....

Well done you. I shall be watching your progress. Hopefully you will gain energy as the program unfolds.

Haha, i've done the Garmin trick more than once. On one occasion it was still on swim so recorded 25 minutes of nothing, another time it was on outside run and i was on the treadmill.

Was it you who ran around the living room for 25 minutes? I seem to remember recently reading a post on that. I discovered why my last few minute runs were quicker than the first few - the dreaded headwind turned into a tailwind, that was why it felt easier and was quicker. First time I have even had a tailwind. Evil Wind normally knows which way you are running and makes sure he is in the way, which ever way you turn.
