Help! I missed a run.. what should I do?!

I missed Week 4 Run 3 last night.. a nasty migraine got the better of me.

Now I’m wondering, do I start Week 5 as if nothing happened, or go back and do Week 4 all over again? Or cram W4R3 into this week and then do Week 5?!

Help/advice would be much appreciated 😀

Just do W4R3 at the next convenient opportunity and then go on to W5 after at least a day's rest.

It doesn't matter if you get bit out of kilter, I think most of us do.

My programme took in Christmas and I was also travelling so there were some very big gaps and a lot of the time I didn't even know what day of the week it was. It didn't seem to make any difference to my progress and I was always able to do the next run.

Your next run is wk 4 run 3. It matters not if you take an extra rest day.

You are doing great!

Just do it as your next run... we all have to miss runs, life, weather, injury... Just carry on, slow and steady!

Just pick up your next run wk4r3 and carry on with the rest days as usual 👍

Thanks guys, I did WK4R3 as suggested and ended up doing better than ever! Definitely would have struggled if I’d had gone straight to W5. Thanks everyone 😊

Well done. I would always take a rest day. I take 2 off before moving on to the next week. My aim is to get through it injury free, however long it takes.

Nice one! Echo thisfishcan , ebcroquet & MickGJ , still take the rest day, just switch up which days of the week you run this week and which are the two back to back rest days.

Personally I've always "started" the week on a Sunday and had Monday & Tuesday as my days off. So if life happens on a Sunday, I can run Monday but Wednesday stays as normal. Alternatively if I've already run Sunday and discover there's going to be 2 feet of snow/gales on Wednesday (I live on the coast in Scotland, I've learn the bird in the hand approach works best!) , I can bring the run forward to Tuesday because I've already had my rest day. Don't know if that helps how you think about it?! :)

I never thought of having to fit it into a Monday - Sunday week, I took far more than 9 weeks as I was still swimming as well, so I did 2 runs in a "normal" week then the third the following week, plus one run from the next "week". I thought of them more as sessions than weeks. It really doesn't matter, have a rest day, have two, have three, just do each "weeks" runs at least three times before moving on. You can do them more than three times too if you like or feel you need to.
