Should I do a run?

Hey folks, I've been sticking to this running plan. And I fully understand the need for a rest day in-between runs.

But today I have woken up with a heavy heart, and full of sadness, I feel like a run might help with my mood, but I don't wanna hurt myself.

Any suggestions?

Best advice is to not do it... it’s a risk.

Maybe try a different workout to kick your butt and get the endorphins flowing?

Go for a walk instead

Your body needs to recover.

Get outdoors for a walk!

The fresh air does wonders for the soul!

Don’t run, rest. Your body needs to recover! 😊

So sorry you're feeling sad, and you're right, going running would help lift your mood.

But if you got injured you'd be sadder still. A brisk walk will have to do!

Ah Dooze, sending love your way!

I’d definitely get out in the fresh air, maybe stick Wk1 or Wk2 on so you’ll get your full half hour & a little bit of a run... hope you feel better soon man! ✌️

So sorry you’re not feeling great today, but please don’t risk injury by running on consecutive days. You could be out for weeks or even months.

Ok tomorrow though. 😀

Hi Doozer, sorry you are feeling a bit down😕 today, however, the advice is to never 🏃 run on consecutive days*, if you have a bike you could go on a short cycle ride, probably not advisable as its cold and windy everywhere in the UK today, better to go a walk or try some yoga at home. 😊 at least try some sort of exercise to make you feel better. 😊

*Only runners who have been running for more than a year and are training for a half or full marathon can train on consecutive days.

I wouldn’t. Actually l did a few years back and that’s why l would suggest not to. Ensuing injuries stopped my running for months, not something that can lift anyone’s mood. Wait a while till body gets stronger.

I often feel the same way and it feels like a run is the cure! Having had to take some time out for ankle problems though I'd never take the risk. My need for running long term is more important. I often find that stomping up a hill and getting lots of fresh air is just what my head needs to put me right for a while! Sometimes when things feel really bad I say to myself 'just put one foot in front of the other and try not to cry'. A walk tends to reset my brain. Take care x
