Hi running friends! Was happy yesterday to finish my W4R1. Id taken an extra rest day due to feet twinges after running W3r2. But today my feet are hurting quite a bit although didn’t on my run yesterday. Im worried will have to go back to W3 or quit for a while. 🙁 Woe is me !

I've found in the past that my legs and feet don't do well with the big increase in total running time between weeks 3 and 4. What I did last time around was to put in an extra 2-3 weeks between the two in which I increased the running more gradually. When your feet feel a bit better, maybe try a week 3 run again, and if that's ok, just do a little bit more each time until you're close to week 4 timings, then take it from there...

Hi Rainbow, thanks for the advice. I guess I could try to add some time on when Michael says stop running . I’ll also take the shoe advice below. 🤔

Hi. Just wondering if you are in the correct shoes? Have you had a gait analysis done at a sports shop?

The advice I’ve seen on here is that if you reach week 3 or 4 then it’ll be worth the investment in some correct footwear for you. Hope you get some more advice and solve your problem.

As above........what are you wearing on your feet?

Have a look at the FAQ post about shoes healthunlocked.com/couchto5... which may help.

We all get aches and minor pains when starting any new exercise regime and these normally pass after a few weeks. Anything that persists, recurs or is painful needs addressing, possibly by consultation with a medical professional.

Have you read the guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5... which may clarify some things for you.

Thanks Lilybeth and Ian. My shoes prob need updating , they are Brooks that I got 9 yrs ago and I did have gait analysis when I got them. I only ran for about 6 weeks and gave up due to injury (pre days of any app like this ! ) I have worn them over the year occasionally but I guess I should get some new ones. I love the programme and want to continue. Think I will take an extra rest day and go back to Wk3 run on Saturday...in my new shoes ! Thanks so much again 😊🏃🏻‍♀️
