Triathlon for beginners

Slow start this morning but found my usual route lined with crowd barriers and cheery people in hi-res jackets with "APS" on their backs. Naturally assumed these were from the C25K Applauding People Service but it turned out they were only there to marshall the Tour De France. This has given me an idea for a basic-level suburban triathlon for beginners - run 5K, dip in inflatable family-sized swimming pool in the back garden then cycle to work.

Paul, you've just more or less described Dozzer's Discombobulated triathlon, taking place during the last 2weeks of this month. Go have a look at Dozzer's posts and sign up. There are loads of us from this forum doing it. Go on, you know you want to :)

LMAO! This has made me laugh and laugh! I would be tempted to enter, but how big is the pool ;)

And will we have a C25K Applauding People Service present? Hilarious :D

Pool not too big and currently surrounded by a quagmire cos I didn't do up the jubilee clips tightly enough when filling it last night!

You are the one for us!!!!! The The Dozz-ville Challenge Award For The Discombulated is the way forward for triathletes such as you! Join us! Last two weeks of July is participation fortnight. 30 mins running, 30 swimming (full on serious swim not essential, wading in shallow end is fine) and 30 biking (excerise bike fine). Any order. Any number of days! £1 to charity entrance fee. No results to be posted. (So I don't get depressed about mine which will not be good.)

The honour accorded to those who complete is the word triathlete in brackets after their name in my forum posts eg Paul McGhee (triathlete). Captain poppypug (ents and haberdashery div) already has a title so her's will be the lengthy - Captain poppypug (ents and haberdashery div, triathlete).

Hi pops half way back across frozen northern wastes and about to fall asleep in coffee saloon. I could quite easily put my head on the table and pass out but I think security would chuck me out. How much caffeine is it officially safe to drink? Night pop and pups and fish and bird

poppypug profile image
poppypugGraduate in reply todozzer19

Aw Dozz, drive safely wont you ? I think anymore than a tincture is officially dangerous, so take care . Safe journey home my friend :-) xxx

dozzer19Graduate in reply topoppypug

Got home eventually. Thanks. Couldn't decide whether brain was going to chuck an epi due to caffeine intake or exhaustion.

Thanks pop and pups and fish and bird. I bought (and got one free) one of those travel tins of sweets. The standard trading outpost has stopped selling the ones made in Isengard. The new ones are kakky.

I was just thinking about school dinners then, peas like bullets , mashed potatoes with hard lumps in , meat with gristle , bleurrghhh , but we did get chocolate sponge and pink custard so that makes up for it,just about :-) xxx

Teabreaks, you MUST sign up for the Discombobulated triathlon. The more the merrier ( you don't even need to be able to swim properly!)

EEK! There's no excuse really is there, lol. What if my dog eats my cossie? lol

AncientMum profile image
AncientMumGraduate in reply toteabreaks

Hahaha. Just give Dozz your name and, if you like, tell him which charity you're going to donate your £1 entry fee to. Just make sure you keep the dog away from your cossie :D
