I had an absolutely c**p morning at work today and really didn't feel like going for my Monday lunchtime run but I knew I really had to and I would feel much better afterwards. The sun was shining and I decided to run outside instead of on the dreaded treadmill so off I went to the lake where the park runs happen every Saturday.

I've had 3 months off on the IC and am redoing the c25k at my own pace depending on how my fitness feels so today I had the intention of completing a 25 min run (with the 5 min walks either side). I was particularly cold when I started off, my teeth were chattering and it took a long time for my legs to feel properly warmed up. The second time round the circuit was much easier than the first because my legs finally felt that they were working properly.

It was a little tricky to manoeuvre round the paths at times as it was so busy with walkers, pushchairs, dogs, cyclists and other runners but I don't blame them for being out. It was lovely being in the sunshine.

I had just finished jogging up the hill from hell for the second time when Sarah told me there was only a minute to go and I could speed up if I wanted. Well there was no chance in that but I did feel that actually I could have carried on for a bit longer.

I'm so pleased that I did make myself go out and do it, I really do feel so much better than earlier.

Good for you for making yourself go...you knew it would make you feel better..running is good for the soul...

Even though it’s not part of the plan, I had a lightbulb moment when out running one day & decided to have an extra three or four minutes warm up instead of 5 mins & it worked...5 minutes isn’t long enough for everyone, give it a go, it might help. Well done on your run today 👍🏻

A run can really pep you up! maybe limberup, do some dynamic excercises before warmup walk, I do a lot do, and it can take longer to warm-up I do a lot do, so brisk walk longer..😊

Thanks all. I shall try a longer warm up next time and try some dynamic exercises too. They are both really good ideas
