Finished Wk6R1 tonight, no problem. Wondering what pace all of you walk & run? I know we're each different but I'm curious about the range of speeds. I walk around 5.2km/ hour and run around 6.4km/ hour. Thank you.

Pacing?
Runners have this odd insistance of expressing pace as mins per km or mile and not speed -distance/time. Running apps and watches express pace as mins/km too. When I started c25k I thought run meant run so gave myself a hard time 5.00-6.00 min/km. Then I learned how to slow jog which made life easier and running longer time/distance easier 6.30- 7.00 min/km. If I run 1km fast then 4.30 min/km but short of breath. Some training apps suggest 8 min/km slow jogging pace for longer runs.
Slower is better!

Thanks. The treadmill gives me my information in km/hour but I will start trying to always convert that into mins/km. It seems like even the "slow jog" pace that you mention is quite a bit faster than my 9.5 (or so) min/km. But, I think I'm hearing from everyone that my first goal has to be to get to running 30 minutes consistently at a pace that is easy and comfortable, and only then start working on speed. Appreciate your support and information. xo
Slow is good. Get the distance and time in. Speed later as you say. Why make life more difficult by trying to run "fast"? You have the right idea already. Don't make my mistake!
I walk and run at my own happy pace... that is all that matters:}
As you develop as a runner you need to find a range of paces. 70-80% of running time should be at an easy conversational pace, with only the remainder pushing pace. Prior to graduation you are better off doing all your running at the easy pace.
Whose pace do you want to compare to? The 83 year old lady graduate of the 21 year old young man. Comparison is pointless.
Find your natural pace, then for a little bit of your runs, push past it. Your natural pace should gradually increase. Don't try and run to an arbitrary number.
All I can say is, if you want to do the magic 5km in 30mins, that's 10kmph. Some people have this in mind as a target and take months or even years to work towards it. It's something I am working on at the moment. Happy running
All of your comments and insights are reassuring. Thank you. Did I mention that I registered for a 5K race in Toronto in late April? We don't have ParkRun, here, so I've signed up to run to raise money for colorectal cancer charities: it's called The Bum Run. I hope that this looming on the horizon will help keep me motivated. xo
