Tried week 5 run three today but lasted about 10 mins anoyingly I think it was my preparation . Around 5 min in to the run my calf's started cramping up pushed on for another 5 mins hoping it would go warm up and settle but just got tighter and tighter this was around 1 pm had a small fruit salad for breakfast but then realised I hadent actually drunk any fluid all day and had minimal water yesterday so in guessing the cramping may be down to slight dehydration I am absolutely gutted . Was going to go back out and attempt it again tomorrow. But my calf's are still a bit tight so do you think I should leave it till Monday ? I'm going to do my best not to allow this to hinder me as I am going to do this 100% no way am I going to let this set back make me give up .even though I did not run I still completed the program but walking the last 10 min
Week 5 run 3 saddly failed : Tried week 5 run... - Couch to 5K
Week 5 run 3 saddly failed
That's not a sad fail, it's a preparation run.
I never fail, I only learn.
You clearly have looked at the reasons why it didnt happen today, so you have had a learning experience too. The hydration the day before would be the key one in my book. 3 litres at least the day prior.
Leave it a day or two then go out and crush it.
Rig is right..correct hydration, ( every day, not just run days), and maybe some simple calf stretches

You will be fine... just take it steady
Don't beat yourself up, lots of us had fails, I failed a week 6 or 7 run, you will ace it next time.
Don't worry, you will find after 10 mins your breathing will even out. Make sure you eat I have only just realized how many more calories running burns and hydration helps prevent stitches. Many of us repeat weeks it took me two years to actually graduate! Also you haven't failed you just haven't done it yet.
We don't use the F word on this forum.
Every run is training for the next one.
You can only fail if you abandon the programme and return to the couch.
Read the guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5... it may help.
You remind me of me pre graduation. I had three demoralising runs that I whinged about on here. In each case, the next run or the rerun was highly successful. I was told at the time, and have learned from experience, that some runs are just like that, no need to beat yourself up, you learn from the so called failures and every run adds to your mileage. But I do remember the feeling at the time, so big hugs and go out and do the run again after your rest day x
Nowt wrong with a practice run! Plenty wrong with dehydration. Glug water & all will be well! 😀
no way is it a fail. i would just repeast again in a few days. drink that water and you will be sorted i bet
Hi darren1978 ...where’s my soap?????!!! No F word on here!!! You have just had a practice run that’s all...also, that run is a hard one that most of us dread, even if you don’t realise it....

Your legs are still learning to run...as for your cramping calf, why don’t you try a longer warm up? Don’t be disheartened about this run, bag the stamina & the distance you covered & next time you’re out, you will NAIL this 😉
Cheers all for your comments I'll take them all onboard and smash it tyty xxx
