That was a tough run, not because of the distance or the two extra minutes, but because my hips ached all the way through it.
It didn't help that it was very wet out. Not so much heavy rain but swirling drizzle with bits of mist, ike torn cotton wool, floating at me.
My jacket was soaked which was resting on my hips so that probably didn't help matters.
My son accompanied us today so my little dog danced with delight between us. My son runs on ahead and then back so covers twice the distance but I don't care. I just run at my pace.
We walked home to the triumphant dawn chorus of the local birds. What a joy to hear them so early.
Happy running and good luck to all beginners, those who are mid way and to my fellow, forthcoming graduates. We can do this x

Well done Geo-Lesley, and thank you for another lovely post.
You evoke daybreak so beautifully that I wish I'd been with you - you've put me to shame because I'm still in my pyjamas although today is graduation day. I always thought I was a morning person but now I think I'm more of a midday person
Yay, Lizz.....today you will graduate and I couldn't be happier for you. I shall be virtually on the finish line with party poppers and a hot cup of tea x
It was a sense of achievement for me Lesley, especially graduating on the charity run in memory of my sister....It was a tad emotional at the finish.
Iβm already training for 10K, got 8K before picking up a injury, which has set me back a bit......too much too soon me thinks π I ainβt getting any younger π
If youβre going to go that route, donβt increase your mileage too quickly π
Thank you I normally take my jacket off and tie it around my hips when I'm running, MissWobble. I'll have a look at the merino knickers and thicker tights. I think it was a lot to do with tension as I could barely see through my glasses and the road is in poor condition so I wasn't striding out as normal.
Hi Cat, I think a lot of it was tension as it was raining, I could barely see through my glasses and the road isn't in the best of conditions. Normally they aren't too bad. I couldn't stride out as I could normally.
Well done on getting to week three. You will be flying through the programme.
