I am three weeks down and feeling really good, I am going to start week 4 tonight. Im a bit worried about this one as its quite a jump from 3 to 5 minuets and with less time to catch your breath in between.
But i am determined to see it through.
What do you all think about when you are running to encourage yourself?

That's a good question...I don't think I do think about anything much, it's a bit of an escape from all that...but in the early weeks there was quite a lot of second guessing the timings and when I'd be able to stop running. Which you probably don't want to do.
The main thing for me was getting the music right--it's not so much tempo as attitude, the wrong song can really drag you down but if the right one comes on just when you need it it can carry you through. It's quite hard to predict in advance what will work, so experiment.
Hello, I will be doing W4R3 tomorrow and like you I found the idea of the leap from 3 to 5 minutes really daunting... but I've done it somehow and so will you! Mick's right, get some fab music you really like, it helps no end. Personally I've managed these longer runs by thinking 'It's less than two songs", or when it's really tough, getting to that tree, that cone, that electricity pole. ... any marker to break it down into mentally easier chunks. I am determined to complete the programme come what may... I'm very nearly 47 and haven't run since school! Good luck ☺
Good music at the time was essential for me for distraction. But also for me I didn't think too much about the timings we were asked to run! If someone had pointed out how different week 4 was from week 3 I might have thought it would be harder.
I have also just done Week 4 Run 1 & surprised myself at how I managed the 5 minutes despite thinking i'd only just achieved 3 last week! Definitely agree the right music helps, but now the muscles in my bottom really hurt so going to take it easy until Monday when I do Run 2.
