Wk7 run 2: Really struggled tonight , didn’t... - Couch to 5K
Wk7 run 2
You've made it through! Well done! Perhaps, you should have slowed down. Depending on the temperature as well if you run outside: the cold can definitely make it more difficult to breathe. Or your body was still tired from the previous runs. W7 was one of the toughest for me: I think our body is readjusting to longer runs three times a week. If you're like me, I hadn't done any intense exercise like that in a very long time. Just because we've had a few longer runs under the belt doesn't make us experienced runners, just beginners
Thank you it just made me feel a little negative you kinda start thinking maybe I can’t do this... after checking my stats I actually had ran slightly further and at an increased pace and yes it was bloomin cold ❄️ So you’re probably right, nice to know others are out there having been where I am now xx
You did run faster It's our temptation as beginners. Don't hesitate to take an extra-rest day. I found it better to leave two rest days in-between runs for my body to recover. And for the cold, some people wear a buff as apparently breathing through the textile, you get warm air into your lungs... I haven't tried but you might want to give it a go!
If your lungs feel like that you may well be going too fast. You need to go along gently at a slow steady sustainable pace-then it will feel a lot easier! 😃
some runs are easier and some are harder. It is only with experience that you can know this. Just keep plodding away; you'll be fine
Week 7 is the toughest mentally and physically as your body is still adjusting to running. Be positive, try not to keep comparing you stats and adjust your run to the conditions. Enjoy it, keep smiling and that feeling at the end when it’s all done - well that’s worth a little bit of pain!😉Is it not?
It is getting easier - at the same time as it's getting harder! What I mean is, at the same time as your fitness and stamina are improving, you're pushing to do more. Think how easy week 1 would feel now, if you want a reminder of how far you've come!
Thanks so much for your post.I have just completed week 7 run 2 and felt just like you did.Makes you realise that you are not alone.
Good to know that others feel the same and some excellent replies. Thank you everyone. I am going to go for the two rest days and complete run 3 on Sunday.
