Hi
So at the metro meet I enjoy using map my run which tells ma about pace, split times and the like.
Just st wondering hoe people find Strava for doing a similar job.
Interested in any thoughts or experience.

Metro met should read moment.
I use Strava for community, but my Garmin uploads my runs to it, so I dont know how accurate Strava is as a stand alone app. I think once you get serious, it quite a good idea to get a watch.
I use strava and am quite happy with it. It gives split times and allows comparissions for the same route. It gives an opportunity to follow others as well. There is a premium version which I beleive does more, but the basic satisfies my usage well enough.
I think Strava is more accurate on distances, I think Map my Run overestimates a bit.
I started with MapMyRun then introduced Strava and run them together. Strava gives me better times, pace, splits etc - so Strava is my preferred friend 😉
I used Strava briefly and it is good for most things, but I reverted to Runkeeper because it allows you to programme intervals. I also send all my stats to Endomondo, because it has a nice feature enabling you to pick out the fastest 1,3,5k etc from your run (not just laps).
tapiriik.com is useful to sync stats between apps.
As far as accuracy is concerned, I have noticed no difference between apps, although they can all be erratic, as can dedicated running watches. General accuracy is going to be down to the sophistication of your hardware, rather than software.
As a tightwad, all my experience is with free versions.
I started using the free version of Strava yesterday, in preparation for post-graduation, and it seemed really good - 500m updates, average time / km and a lovely map of the route to show your friends when you finish!

P.S. I only read your post because I thought you must be in Newcastle with your metro meet. Very disappointed you're not (neither am I, but it's one of my favourite places).
