So, lots of you say how listening to podcasts, desert Island discs, music etc helps with distracting you.
How do I get to play a recording of my choice and still get 'Laura' in my ear telling me when you run/walk/keel over?
Thanks

Good question. Will be interested to see the advice you get. I'm listening to Laura via podcast... my understanding is I can't listen to music or other podcast as well. Hope to be told otherwise. 🤞
You're correct. If you're listening to Laura's podcast (rather than using the dedicated C25K app) you can;t listen to two things.
Some people have had issues with the app, but so far no issues for me on either Android or Apple devised.
Thanks for clarifying. So disappointed... another member just suggested a drill sergeant app and I'm dying to try it out. 😀 The c25k app is not available in the country I live in, so the podcasts are my only option.
That's a bummer. I'm guessing licence restrictions outside the UK. At the risk of being inflammatory I blame Brexit personally
Usually whether you're on an iPhone or any Andriod phone just start whatever music/podcast you want to listen too in the default music player on your phone and then start the C25K app as well. They'll play together and the music fades down and up depending on what the C25K app is doing. But you need the C25K app (free to download) rather than the downloads of the individual C25K sessions.
Shout if this is gibberish and let me know what sort of phone you have and I'll help you in more detail!

That worked!!! Thanks S!
Hi sallenson, you sound like a helpful techy person. I have failed miserably to put the NHS C25K podcast onto my phone. It is a Nokia Lumina 635. I managed to put the My Run app on which has the same C25K plan, but it has thrown an error a couple of times, so now will not let me continue the plan because it needs me to complete each preceding run. I know that I have, but of course because of the errors, My Run doesn' know. I have continued to use the Free Run part of the app which tells me how long I have run, speed, distance, calories etc, but it would be good to hear Laura's coaching. Ideas very welcome. Thank you.
Not good news I'm afraid. As far as I can tell the NHS C25K app that most of us use is only available on iPhone and Android. Not on Windows phones like yours. There are other versions, but it sounds like you've had experience of those. For the full Laura experience you're currently stuck with just the mp3 files that you can download and load onto your phone from here:
nhs.uk/Livewell/c25k/Pages/...
So you will get Laura, but you won't get the full app experience (and a few people have glitches with it anyway so not the end of the world>
If you're flummoxed about how to load mp3 files onto your phone (and I confess I'm not a Windows phone user) it should just be a case of plugging in a USB cable and copying them to a Music folder on your phone - but you may be a whizz at this bit already.
Shout back if you get stuck! Trying to be helpful but probably not that much I'm afraid.
Stephen
Thank you very much for your reply. I am not a whizz at loading mp3 files onto my phone. Not only am I not a whizz, I have never done it! I'll first have to hunt out a USB cable (whatever that is). You have given me plenty to getting on with. Thank you again. I'll let you know what happens when I give time to attempting this next techy milestone.
You can tell play music & listen to Laura on the one you app
Use the bbc get inspired app and it’ll automatically quieten your music when the speaker comes on. Laura is available to choose as a voice coach on there too.
I've used an interval timing app when the intervals were easy - just popped in the run and walk times and let that play in the background while I played my music podcast. When the intervals were not consistent (different lengths of runs throughout), I used the podcast and endured the music that isn't to my taste.
I'm in week 7, and now I've started using the RunKeeper app. It announces the time every 5 minutes so between that and just checking the time on my phone, that's good enough.
Laura is on the latest version of the app, so you can use that and play your mp3s or podcasts simultaneously.
After faffing around for a bit I've finally got it sorted. I can't get the official c25k app in my country, but I've got the zenlabs c25k app and it works the same! As in, I can play music, podcasts etc at the same time. Looks like I've got me a drill sergeant for tomorrow's run 😂
Thanks, all, for the tips. 😀
