Fitting it all in

I like to do circuit and pump classes as well as some weights. But considering we also need rest days I'm struggling to fit it all in. I know if I push it too much my old knees will let me down

I think you've answered your own question. Only you know your body and what its limits are. Just be sensible. You can still do your weights and classes on your running rest days. A rest day from running just means no running!

Thanks for the advice. I have a circuit class 4 days a week and weights two. I am running on the weight days which only leaves one day. I can't drop a circuit I'm addicted lol Just like I'll probably get with running

A circuit class four days a week!!!? Something's gotta give. Are you training for something or is this a maintenance job?

I am doing a mudder in June hence the running but only a 12k one. I programme to do 4 a week in case work gets in the way and I cancel some. Last few months however I've achieved all four

I will. It's not My first but I've not done one for 3 years

You can run the same days you do other stuff like resistance training. You'll know if it's too much but otherwise just treat your run as part of that days program.

C25K rest days are from impact exercise. Anything else is beneficial, but wearing yourself out by too much exercise is counterproductive and is likely to lead to injury, which is why good exercise programmes are structured in a progressive way, such as C25K.

What are you doing on your weight days? Perhaps place more focus on strengthening your quads to support your knees. Also, why are you doing so much cardio? Enough is as good as a feast.

Yes - agree about the cardio. I am a bit like the OP but in a different way. Over the past 6 months I haven't been able to run so joined a gym and bought a bike - now that I am back to running 4 days per week ( well that's the plan anyway! ) , I would like to continue with the gym and the bike - but!!!! -- only so many days in a week. I am thinking of doing non-cardio raising work at the gym - less repetitions , more weight?? and the bike is always "cardio" but nothing like running!! I am thinking of using it as a "fresh air gathering" device.

It’s about balance, and I certainly haven’t mastered that yet. It is hard.

I think you are right. I need to get into a pattern and it will sort itself out hopefully.

Thanks for the comment

It will... Although it is hard and I’m sure lots has been written. I just do what I fancy which is neither sensible or scientific but I’m still at it at least!!

I'm the same but it's working. Try having a look at my blog journey (something else new for me) where I'm sharing my journey
