I started the c25k on Sunday, just done my second run this evening and found it hard, I’ve always wanted to be able to run as part of my fitness but whenever I start I have pains in my hips. I was hoping this would ease me into running, does it get easier? Please someone tell me it does!! I’m determined to keep at it

Yes it does get easier. You need to go really slowly, gentle and relaxed. Run at walking pace if you need to - I do!! 😀

Hey Croper, it does get easier I promise, you are using muscles in a way you don’t normally and the program is designed to strengthen them gradually, make sure you take your rest day and that you stretch after every run.

If you are getting hip pains it could be a sign you are aggravating your hip flexor muscles, I had the same problem along with a weak core, I do specific stretches for the flexors ofter every run. runnersblueprint.com/hip-fl...

Also some core strengthening exercises are always good, YouTube had loads of core exercises aimed at runners .. strong core.. strong runner

Good luck and I hope it gets easier for you.

It does get easier especially when you start running for longer as your breathing evens out. As others have said don't worry about your pace.

You will have good runs and bad runs though.

As both Elfe5 and Swisstony4 are suggesting, you need to take it gently and run slow. But you also need to stretch every day if you have pain in your hip. Check the links advised by Swissony4. It's very important because it brings suppleness to your body/joints and you are less likely to get injured. Make sure you drink a lot of water as well. Enjoy your next runs!

C25K is about building your stamina, not about speed, speed can come later if you want it to. It may be just that you are trying to go to fast too soon. Slow your pace on your next run and see if that helps any. And as Anthie says make sure you stretch regularly and especially before a run.
