Just registered for my first 10k race in april.

Have only run 5k so far.. Oops. Better get my trainers on.

Anybody else find running leads them to make poorly thought out decisions lol :)

Erm no, never, why do you ask! You wouldn't catch me making rash decisions, oh dear me no.

The very idea ....... hmmmmfffff (flounces off Miss Piggy style)

As long as you observe the 10% rule, you have loads of time. If you make one run per week your long run and increase it by no more than 10% of your weekly total, you will be keeping your injury risk minimal and can theoretically get to 10k in just a few weeks, but slow and steady is still the guiding rule.

Ju-ju is going to start a new 10k training plan shortly, on the Bridge to 10k forum.

Sage advice. I was gonna start on the bluefin b210k podcasts tonight but will have a look see on the 10k forum also.

I graduated from C25k in August, found Ju-ju's bridge to 10k in the archives and followed it graduating mid November. I've continued following the structure of ju-ju's plan with the plan of running a half marathon in March. I just ran 14.5k on the weekend with ease so I am a HUGE fan of Ju-ju's plan. I liked that you're not going back to walking bits again and it is a really gentle progression. Just my 2 cents.

Good luck with your race in April. You've got lots of time to build up to it and will do great I'm sure. This running thing sure is a slippery slope 😆. Before you know it, you'll be signing up for a half marathon and half way through your training ask yourself what the hell were you thinking, just to have a great long run and go, oh ya, that's what I was thinking. I love this running thing! If you haven't gone over to the Bridge to 10k forum yet, come on over. There's lots of us from this forum over there 😁

Thankyou.. and yes i'm going to follow ju-ju's program as I prefer the fact it is distance based rather than time. I assume it's starting up again next week, but as you say I can just dig out the posts if not. Yes, run is near the end of April so I think it's quite a sensible target and good motivation level also.

Not what you're looking for?
