A young lady who was taking part in our the local park run at Lydiard Park Swindon on Sat collapsed when she was only 400-500 yards into run and never recovered. They believe she died from a heart attack and sadly died in the Great Western Hospital surrounded by her husband & 2 teenage daughters.

Unfortunately some people have "time bombs" inside them just waiting to explode - and they can go off at any time. My wifes sister died very young while at home with a severe brain aneurysm.

Oh blimey, what a terrible thing to happen. It is very sad for the family 🙁.

I read about this on a facebook running forum I just joined. Awful, and it must have had a profound effect on everyone there and everyone associated with that park run.

That is so sad and I can totally sympathise with the family on this one. I have my cardiology check today to see if I may have an inherited sudden cardiac death syndrome abnormality as my brother died suddenly from a cardiac arrest 6 weeks ago. It is a worry and such a sudden, senseless loss 😔

There is something ( which I and many/most other people have) commonly called hardening of the arteries . Caused by long slow calcification of arterial plaque , it is called the "Widowmaker" because the first that most people know about it is their sudden death. Fortunately, I accidently discoved my arthersclerosis during a "calcium score" test ( basically an xray of the heart). I say fortunately because at least it has given me the opportunity to do things to lower it's rate of progress ( it cannot be reversed) youtube.com/watch?v=WygYk81...

This is really sad. We never know what is ahead and should enjoy the one life we have as much as we can

I am so sorry to hear this - I was at Lydiard on Saturday for my first ParkRun and I saw all the ambulances, but I was told that somebody had just overexerted themselves - it didn't even cross my mind that the person wouldn't recover.

I'm in complete shock - my sincere condolences to the family, I can't imagine what they must be going through.
