Yes, I did say I was running yesterday and yes, about halfway through today I really wish I had. I was actually booted and spurred yesterday, itching to go, when the sky went strangely black. Dylan arrived and dumped one heck of a storm on us...positively Biblical. I noticed that all the cows and sheep were lined up in pairs ready to embark when Noah arrived in ArkyMcArkface. The roads flooded and visibility went to not a lot. So I chickened out. Cowardice: my special gift.
Anyway, it meant I went today, after last night's New Year shenanigans. It is Jools Holland's fault as his Hootenanny was longer than the supply of gin we had available and required us to empty reserve tanks of cider, wine, fizzy stuff...well, it was also my daughter's Birthday so perhaps forgivable.
Anyway, damage done: paid the price. Never again...( I bet nobody ever said that before).
Not sure it was the excess of botanicals but I managed to misread watch and ended up running for 32 minutes, not quick though at 7.4s/km. My head and stomach were arguing with each other so much that I didn't notice my legs even though it was sticky across the fields.
Anyway, I start my annual 'Dry January' today so I am hoping to do the last four runs up to graduation powered on something other than the fermented and distilled.
May I wish all here a very happy 2018!

Good on you for getting out there despite the festivities and over indulgence last night! You may call yourself a coward for skipping your run yesterday, but I call you a hero for getting out there with the head and stomach fighting with each other 🤢😆. Bring on W8R3!
Your posts crack me up! Brilliant turn of phrase.
Well, you have only yourself to blame. I ran with that same gentleman yesterday, and Ive run with hangovers in my misspent youth: I know which I prefer! Cant complain at that pace though. Come here and run it!
I shall attempt w8r3 tomorrow on my birthday (yes, another Capricorn...wish your daughter happy birthday). Still very wild and windy here, but I shall venture out in daylight as these longer runs mean Im running out of space within the town. Wish me luck.
Excellent piece! You did very well despite the alcoholic vapours. Perhaps you can make an exception on your dry resolution and reopen a bottle for your graduation very soon
Be careful running off hangovers. I once did an accidental 7-miler with my fellow morning-afterites because we decided not to stop til we felt better. Worked though, and much quicker than just water and crying on the sofa.
