Highs and lows

Wow I’m now at week 9 which seemed impossible when I started this programme. Ive just completed run 1 so just 2 more to go. On the high point, I’ve run non-stop for 30 mins; the low point - I couldn’t reach 5k and only managed 4.39kms. I simply couldn’t go any faster 😕😕

But you DO remember that 9 weeks ago it was a struggle do run for a minute? And now you are not FAST enough?

Cut yourself a break, really. You are a beginning runner still. I'm 3 months out from graduation and can now run 5k in 40 minutes on a really good day. But it used to be 45 minutes!

Aw Tx this has really cheered me up and you are so right. I suppose on the up-side, it gives me an additional goal to aim for. Cheers 👍😃

I still can't do 5k or even 4.39k in 30 mins - it's not a 'low point' at all. "Couch to 3 1/2k" sounds much less cool, but is much more realistic for many of us! - You are well beyond that ( & me)!

I'll get the podium polish out for you! 😀

I only managed 3.95k (ouch, was so gutted to be that little short of 4k!) on my graduation run but in reality very few people manage to graduate by running 5k in 30 mins. It's just that 'Couch to 5k' has a nice ring to it and I suspect has better take up than if the programme was called 'Couch to 30 minutes' - which in reality is what it is. Not knocking it at all by the way - it's a great programme, whatever it is called.

After you graduate you will soon build up to 5k - it took me 3 weeks of running 3 times a week to reach that magic number (and a few more consolidation runs before I ventured to Parkrun).

Good luck, and don't be disappointed with yourself - you are a runner now and you will get there.

Wow, im a week behind you so you are giving me inspiration. It took me 28 minutes to do 3.57k on the dreadmill the other day, so I think you are doing fine x

That's not bad at all and just think how long you ran for, 30 whole minutes! Well done you 👏

You've said it: you are NOW able to run for 30 mns non-stop! Wonderful! And the best part of it is that you can even enjoy it ;-) Don't you care about the 5K: they will come in their own time. Enjoy your last two runs and prepare the party for your graduation!!!

Not what you're looking for?
