Did three runs in my first week after graduating c25k. I'm doing 5k (or a tad over) for each rather than 30 mins. I still do not do 5k within 30 mins, so I keep going after 30 mins until I cover at least 5k.
My 5k pace this week:
Run 1: 31m26s
Run 2: 30m56s
Run 3: 31m36s
Average: 31m19s
My trainer this week was Jo. Next week it's Sanjeev.
My playlist next week includes four tracks from Green Day - Christian's Inferno, Murder City, Having a Blast and Sassafras Roots; Keane - Somewhere Only We Know; The Who - The Seeker; Eric Clapton - They Call Me the Breeze and Vedera - A World Apart. Music plays a big part in keeping my legs moving. I tried going without earphones this week. I had my phone playing on loudspeaker in the breast pocket of my tee-shirt. I could hear it fine, but I do run in a very quiet lane with nobody around on foot. It also helped in feeling more part of the environment and also able to hear vehicles approaching.

Pretty good going. I graduated 2 weeks ago and am yet to do 5k lol. Gonna give it a crack tonight though but I think it'll be more like 35mins.. I seem to have gotten into a slow pace where even though I can go much quicker, I can't be bothered lol.. Maybe I'm a distance runner at heart
I'm not really trying for speed at all. It's just a way to measure progress, I suppose. I think you doing right - your body knows best. But I just need little challenges to push myself a bit.
Well done both of you....don't get too hung up on that 30min 5k, I can see the attraction in acheiving it, but it's not really the most important part of your regular running. Thirty mins is fine for building stamina, and if you are interested in running longer distances you will need to run slower to do that.
Some shorter runs and different routes will help to keep it fresh and interesting too. I love that you are 'trying out' all the coaches on the app Late-starter and think your playlist sounds great.
I totally get it, Jan. I probably gave the impression that I'm trying to do 5k in 30 mins. I'm not. I'm not trying to be fast. I was just making the minor point that instead of running for 30 mins, I'm running to 5k now. I just want to get to the point where 5k is a little bit more fun and a little less of a struggle.
At the moment I doubt if I want to go for longer distances. I think I'll be happy getting a great workout every other day.
Well done! And great to share the music I suggest you and Elfe5 start thinking about making special music podcasts for those of us who are too technology reluctant (or just too lazy... at least for this kind of thing) : it would be eclectic and very suitable for 30 mns postgrad runs!
