The weather is looking good for tomorrow and I am really looking forward to the Whitley Bay park run in the morning. Should be a beautiful setting right by the coast. I am not a morning runner and this will be my first one, what are recommendations as far as what to eat or drink beforehand? Thanks 😁

Morning Chris I’m doing a coastal Parkrun too, Hove Promenade, going to visit my daughter in Brighton so thought why not do it down there, weather looks set to be sunny 🌞😎

I’m not a expert, but I’ve been advised to hydrate well the day before a run, at least 2ltrs. As to eating, I tend to have a high carb meal the night before... Pasta or the like. Whether that’s the right thing to do?? But it works for me.

Enjoy your run 😎🏃🏃

Most mornings I run before I eat, even most recently for a couple of 7.5 mile runs. However, I think a 9:00am start is too late to go without. Personally, I eat a bowl of museli an hour before. But whatever your breakfast of choice would be fine (not a full-English) as long as you leave yourself time to digest - at least an hour.

For a 5k you should not need to carb-load beforehand. Hydrate well every day. Then you don't have to pre-plan runs in advance - plus you will be healthier too.

Lovely! I did the Redcar park run this year and loved it. Very friendly bunch. 🙂

Park run is lovely 👍. Take some cash for a drink and maybe something to eat afterwards Volunteer as well! 🙂

You’ll enjoy it.

What to eat will depend on the person. Some people don't seem to need to, I always do. Avoiding greasy food is a good idea and don't stuff yourself (speaking from experience here....). For me it's usually oatmeal, or a boiled egg and fruit or some leftovers and coffee. I don't tend to drink loads of water beforehand because there aren't any en route washrooms, but I bring a bottle in the car for afterwards.

Have fun at Parkrun - I look forward to the race report.
