Oh, no, too much snow!

Woke up this morning to poring rain, so checked the BBC weather forecast for my area, which said it was due to try up for a bit round lunchtime. I decided to wait a while before going out, but then it changed to light snow flurries. I was in two minds when I spotted another runner going past, so thought if he can do it so can I!

By the time I donned the gear, (shorts, T-shirt, light top, gloves, wooly hat) the snow was coming down faster but I went out anyway. 5 minutes into the run, just warmed up, and then the wind decided to get in on the act, and the snow was really heavy (so much for the forecast saying the snow would stay north of the M4!) Now close to blizzard conditions, and even the cyclist I met thinking I am bonkers!

When it got to the point where my glasses were snowing-over, I decided it was time to quit and call it a day. This is my second week since graduation, and I managed 3 runs last week of 5K, although my time is still around 35 minutes.

Ah well, maybe by Tuesday things will have improved (or am I being optimistic?) This is the first time I have actually given up on a run, but at least I got out there.

Well done for making the effort it would have been so easy to stay in the warm. Impressive post graduation 5k runs too 👏

Well done on getting out, winter runs can be amazing. For me the name of the game is getting out and giving it a go, not the distance nor the speed.

Thanks for that. I know what you mean, but still a bit disappointed at not completing 5K. Still, there is always the next run...

There is always the next run but I fear we may have to wait till Wednesday for a thaw. Not sure the streets near me will be safe before that.

Stay safe everyone. Falls can slow your progress by weeks. An extra rest day is only one day delay.
