I am in week 2 of the runs. I am really enjoying it. But I have never been a runner. Have done yoga and aerobics in the past but I want an activity that gets me out and I can do anywhere. So hoping this could be for me. I am overweight and new to this and have started experiencing hip flexors aching during running on my left side. Any tips to recover or run so it doesn’t happen? I am not going fast only 7.1 on the treadmill so far..
Thanks.

Well done for starting the programme first of all! I'm sure a lot of members will give you advice and links. I do think you need to stretch and if you can, take up yoga again. There are simple exercices to stretch the hip flexors: you need to do them regularly though. You may check your balance/gait analysis if you feel more pain on the left: perhaps you are more on your left foot than on your right.
But also give time to your body to get accustomed to running. You will feel less and less stiff. Enjoy your next runs!
Thanks for getting back to me. Yes will try and get to yoga too and get a stretching routine. I guess the more I do it the stronger I will get. But I think I also need to listen to my body and take it slow. ( I am not very good at that!!). Thanks for your encouragement.
