Not too old!

I’m 66 and have just completed week 2. Felt tired during my run today as I didn’t sleep very well last night but I’m glad I persevered. Living by the sea, running on the cliff top is exhilarating, and the weather has been stunning this week. On to week 3 and hoping the longer runs won’t cause any hip/knee pain.

Looks like a lovely route.

Well done, but you are a spring chicken compared to our recent 83 year old graduate.

Keep it up, you will never regret it.

Good for you ... and the cliff top run sounds gorgeous.

Take it slow and steady, always take your rest days and trust in the program (because it works!).

Keep smiling, keep running and keep posting so we know how you're getting on.

Good luck and happy running!

Hips and knees should be fine. Im 4 years older than you and have a badly damaged knee and metal in my leg, so checked with my GP before starting te program. Her answer was that it would be the best thing for my injuries, build up supportive muscle etc. Current thinking is that running doesnt damage knees and can strengthen them, along with your entire musculature and joint system, increase bone density and much more, so go you.

Edit: if you havent, go to a running shop, have your gait tested and get fitted with appropriate shoes...it’s a good way of avoiding injury orstrain when running.

Thanks for all the encouraging comments. I’ve just done week 3, run 2. Rather windy and cold on the clifftop this morning, but sunny and clear which always lifts the spirits. Is it right that this weeks’ sessions are only 24 Minutes each?

Week 3 intervals add up to a total workout time of 25 minutes, as the running intervals are gently stepping up.

Well done on getting out today. It is ideal running weather, cool and bright.
