I graduated! 4.2 km 35 minutes

It took me a while to get here (injury and extra time for heatwaves - total time since I started is ten or eleven weeks) but I made it and I'm stoked that I got to finish today.

It's such a beautiful day and I got to graduate c25k on my favourite path - The Fernleigh Track in beautiful Newcastle, Australia.

I had been hoping to finish while I was on holiday down in Soust Aus, but it wasn't meant to be - graduation day turned out to be a stunning 40 degrees, great for a dip in the ocean but not so great for a run. As always, I made sure I kitted out, hydrated and had a go, but it only took me a few minutes of running to know that it was madness to continue. Besides, I had forgotten to buy gum while I was in town that day and there was no way I could run for half an hour without my mouth drying out and turning my tongue into kindling. I gave it a solid crack, though, and I'm proud of that.

Today was my day and I was stoked to get out to my favourite track to run through the bush with the little skinks and water dragons sunning themselves along the path and the sound of lyre birds and bell birds singing. A bonus today was the cool, soft rain that started to fall at the halfway point and kept falling until I was back home.

Now to tackle the whole 5k!

I really don't know what's worse: running in 40°C or in the cold damp misty rainy snowy weather we have over here in the north of the northern hemisphere ;-) Heat I would say makes you feel so exhausted... Anyway, well done for that amazing graduation run on a wild I can only imagine gorgeous! Enjoy a lot more happy running in the wild and hopefully without too much of a heatwave.

Yes, my partner is from snow country and he is always telling me I'd love running in the snow. Me - I'm not so sure. I'll hopefully get a chance to find out in the next few years as we plan to be in Canada for at least a couple of them.

I'm keen to get out and explore some different tracks and trails near and far from home :)
