Well after my deluded enthusiasm regarding skipping a few weeks out I was brought back to reality this morning. We’re and wild out there but still enjoyed it BUT I did realise I need to stay with the program.

It's definitely worth sticking to the run plan as set out. You should be building your basic endurance in a steady way.
There are lots of reasons for the gradual approach. This post includes some I wasn't aware of.
