Completed week 5 today with the scary 20 min run. I accidentally ‘paused’ the app so ran for 25 min waiting for Jo to chime in with encouragement. Eventually I was screaming for Jo, ‘you promised you’d be there Jo’, then realised my mistake. 🙄
Pain in the bum ... I have a visit to the physio today as my bum muscle is (I think) putting pressure on my sciatic nerve. I've been doing pilates and stretching before and after runs, so hopefully it's just a one off occurrence and I can get back on with my postgrad running activities.
EDIT - good news, the bum thing is called "gluteal entrapment", where muscle tightness is causing pain and affects the (sciatic) nerve. Good news is that I've had an elbow in my bum cheek, have been given some exercises and have been given the green light to take it steady with the running (3 times a week).
OK, so still suffering a cold, still mild buttock twinge and generally feeling a bit sub-par. But, in true C25K style, we battle on. A run down this week compared to my normal schedule, so this is just my second run since Sunday, but did a local loop of 7.5k in just under 43 mins, which was fine really.
I'll keep working on those stretches and see how Sunday fares for another run out. Happy weekend everyone.
