Weekly chat 25th to the 31st of December 🎅🏼🎄🕺🏽

Apologies, my days are all muddled as it’s Christmas! So how is it going, have you managed to get out at all over the festive period so far ?

Sometimes we don't feel like putting a whole post up but just want to share something small, so this is a great place for doing that during the week.

If youre a lurker it is a great place to say a little hi without the pressure of a full post.

Wishing you all a happy and healthy week,

Juju, Realfoodieclub and Oldfloss

Morning Ju... I am just off out for a run... ( getting later every day! )

But, Mr OF has bought me a new head torch, so will be trying that out later this week :)

Last run was Sunday, slow and steady 4K.. and great fun trying to do Tim's challenge :)

Hope all good with you..have a great day :) x

Have reached new heights in micro runs. On Christmas Eve, tried to do Labrador laps along and back the prom while my mum tried out her new scooter (too sloooow and not steady enough - the scooter that is). But Mum got cold v quickly and we had to abandon the project and totter on a tri-walker to the tea shop. I start thinking we should invent ‘couch to 1k’ for 90+ year olds and others - with forum posts reviewing tri-walkers vs 4-wheelers. Interim conclusion: the triumph on arrival rises exponentially according to effort regardless of type of kit, and makes scones taste like nectar. Go Mum! Thanks Ju, btw.

Ohh..that was a bit tough! A bit dehydrated and worse for wear after yesterday's festivities, but I seem to have survived! Last couple of minutes was an eternity though... Only 4 more runs to graduation now. (edit - Well to 30 min runs anyway).

Cheeky little impromptu mud run yesterday going back to the car from watching the rafts coming over Masson Weir in the Matlock Boxing Day Raft Race (we usually walk down from the house to watch them going into the water, thought we'd go for the other end this year). Hooray for Vivobarefoot walking boots! (And boo for the flour bombers still putting plastic in the Derwent to menace the wildlife in the river and far beyond.)

As the song goes I'm on a roll only I must have some self control as third day in a row and week 9 run 1 complete. I do not distance calcs but think even with my slow pace a few miles, maybe more. I took the advice of someone else in here forget about number of steps and miles per minutes and just run so I have.

My last c25k run was week 9 run 1 and ive been struggling with knee pain since week 7.

I've been to a physio and had 3 rehab runs of 20 minutes this week and so far my knee is tender and niggly but not painful. Back at they physio tomorrow and hoping she says I can increase to 25 mins.

Fingers crossed I will be graduating early in the New Year!

W7R3 25 mins went well and getting closer to the 5k distance target. Week 8 and 28 min runs now ahead, so hope to do the distance for the first time.

Family came home for Xmas, and then the snow came! So it was difficult to get out, and I confess my 1 rest day has turned into several rest days. But I’m going out to start week 6 today. Wish me luck, I feel 1/2 stone heavier 😆

No chance of graduating in 2017 (getting to end if week 9) but I 'm hopeful I can get to 5k tomorrow on W8R1 (28 mins). Will give it a few percent extra to try to do it so I can start 2018 with 5k runs in the bag.

W8R1 28 mins just done and I learned a valuable lesson about not overdoing it. I'd always run every c25k workout at a pace that felt " natural" but this morning I had my eye on getting to 5km for the first time. So I set off like a hare (4:51/km pace) then had a minor blow-up in the second km and dropped 20 seconds off the pace for the rest of the run (and a right load of sweating, huffing and puffing). So, that hurt (a lot), and I shall go back to what feels natural rather than trying to speed it up in future. Lesson learned.

The good news is all the pain was "worth" it because I bagged my first 5km run with 5.44 km covered in 28mins at 5:10 /km pace.

Puffed up and down hill for 28 minutes yesterday, continuing my cycle of let’s procrastinate before heading out/here I go/feck that was exhausting/ooh I feel high on endorphines/pooh I stink need a bath/ boo a whole day to wait to run again/let’s browse running sites to fill in the time.
