No longer like my job and it's affecting my mental health

To cut a long story short I started working part time in early July this year and currently do three days a week Monday to Wednesday :what exactly is the problem I hear you say well I don't enjoy my job like It did when I started nearly two and a half years ago. It's classic case of employer piling more duties and forgetting there is less staff. Feel very demoralised and feel trapped. Have been for interviews but no luck not enough experience. How am I supposed to get experience if I am not given the chance. Wish I could hand my notice in. Know I am lucky to have a job but way I feel if anyone wants it they would be welcome to it. Dread Sunday night. It's all I can do to get through the day to Wednesday. Not sure what else to do. Love my hours but not the job so would like same hours preferably. Am so desperate to get out I would consider full time if the job was right but that would be dishonest and unfair.

Sorry to hear this, what sort of work are you looking for ?

Audio Typist or Support Secretary. I work in NHS so would like to stay in NHS but work nearer home. Trouble is last interview I did not have enough medical experience how can I get any if I am not given the chance.

I noticed you say you work part -time, any chance you could do something voluntary to gain extra experience, sometimes the rehab phases are in need of help.

I have things that I do on the days I don't work such as attending my beginners running group and swimming. Have nothing against volunteering as I volunteer at Park Run but that is the extent of my volunteering. I know you trying to be helpful and I am cognisant of that fact. My colleague suggested agencies but they usually only have temporary positions and I need permanent. Have decided to wait till after Xmas now to resume my job search.

This is the very reason why I left the NHS two years ago. Why not apply for a secondment to another department? It might only be a temporary position but it will give you some time-out from the job you dislike. Good luck!

Thanks Maryx. How do secondments work? Yes it would give me relief from the job I do now but I would still have to go back to it. I am an audio Typist however myself and other colleagues are expected to do other things but not given consideration of this when figures are high. I being careful about what I say suffice to say if I could just go to work audio type & go home I would be happy as it is my job not audio typist/admin assistant.
