Hey everyone, not been here for a few days, too much work getting in the way ... :-(

Also, been out of action since I pulled my calf on Saturday morning, resting up as much as I can in order to give it the best opportunity to recover ...

So, the actual point of my post ... yes, there is sometimes a point to me putting fingers to keys ... even though my messages seem to have been composed during a nervous fit ...

Foam Roller ...

1. What does it do ?

2. Do I need one ? (Why)

3. How much are we talking £££ ?

Thanks in advance for your detailed and insightful responses .... :-)

I see that we have lots more people graduating, and lots more people taking up the reins at the start of the program .... can I say ... WELL DONE TO YOU ALL ...

I would maybe urge caution while carrying an injury. To the best of my knowledge foam rollers are preventative, not for during the acute phase. Someone else might have different advice but they are a harsh product at the best of times. I got a good one from amazon, Decathlon also do a good one.

I bought one but after advice from my physio was told that stretches regularly and very occasional rollering was the way to go and he said you could do it with a smooth roller as well.

Look after that injury and get proper advice if needed.

Take care

Thanks RFC, I've just been resting up which is doing it the power of good. We have a sports massage service at work, its tied in with improving attendance at work and not being off through injury, that helped a lot.

Have been considering the roller for a while, couple of people have mentioned them, just wondered What Why and How much ...

Thanks for helping ... x

I have a foam one and a massage stick.. the massage stick is good for me...but, take care.. my Sports Physio said , calf exercises ,until the injury I had was healed.. and always after runs....and then use as a preventative measure, as Realfoodieclub says:)

I got mine from Amazon.

Try these exercises for your calf..

I mis-read 'foam roller' as 'steam roller' for a second and thought

"No wonder she is feeling nervous!!!" 😂😂

Aldi are doing foam roller at £6.99 soon (on sale 13.05.18) I am going to get one and give it a go as I get discomfort from tight hip to thigh tendon on rest days. Worth a pop for uner £7 😊
