Week five day two.....oh those hills!

Still not feeling in great shape. Slept on and off all day yesterday with little work done but when you have RA you have to accept that the body does it's own thing and you have to go with the flow.

Woke up at 5am and decided to go for my run.

Gosh it was windy but I don't mind that and set off with aching knees, stiff calves and dodgy hips. Started my first run and soon got into my stride. "I'm loving this", I thought to myself, ignoring the pain which accompanies most RA warriors daily. "I'm really loving this"!

The first run went like a dream, breathing was great, recovery was quick and all was good. Rather than run back past the honking geese and squabbling turkeys I decided to come home a different route. What a mistake! The five minute walk was great, striding out well, breathing great, all is right with the world. The dark, twisty, narrow lanes concealed a terrible secret, it was all downhill which meant that the next run was all uphill. A long, steep hill which never seemed to end. Bright red in the face, sweat dripping off me I finally arrived at the summit, breathless, luckily, otherwise I'd have been cursing fit to shock sailors. It was a poor run, one of my worst so I decided to run for another five minutes on the relatively flat bit before my five minute warm down walk.

Home feeling wind buffeted, sweaty, satisfied, but blooming tired :)

Have a great run, or a bad run, but enjoy it either way because you can x

I live in a place surrounded by hills and cannot avoid them at all. I'm learning that you just keep going and even if you're passed by snails the pleasure of reaching the top of the hill just can't be beat!

Kudos to you for the extra 5 minute run!!

Oh Dear...no please don't give me hills..not even slight inclines!! I even avoid going up and down pavements as it's just too much. Well done you a warrior for sure.

Wow, well done you for having the stamina not only to complete the hill but to tag an extra 5 minutes on as well.

I'm always suspicious when running downhill as that's usually a big hint that I'm going to be running uphill pretty soon after. But once you've graduated including hills can be a good way of strengthening up those running legs (but only little hills if you can).

But you did it, so you must be feeling really proud of yourself.:-)
