Mapping my run

Hi! Just a wee quick question! I use strava to record my runs just because I like to see the statistics in a very casual way!!

I just wondered if other people record the whole session including walking warm up and downs!

I’ve just completed week 7! I might just go back to recording whole session! 😀

I just record the running bit because I like to see how I improve/get worse or whatever. Bit pointless because I'm not exactly Mo Farah but I just find it motivates me a little bit more. (And the geeky bit of me likes looking at the stats, sadly). That's just me though. It's all exercise. Brisk walking is also building fitness.

Ha ha!! I must be geeky too then!! It’s easier to record at start of session when I walk out of door and then I’m not fussing about with my phone as I’m about to break into my run!!! 😂

I use a very basic running watch and a small MP3 player for the podcasts. I'm a simple person, as my wife keeps telling me.

I don’t use any app on my phone to record my workouts, but I use my fitness GPS watch. Personally I like to record the whole thing to see how far i’ve come and also calorie-burn ect. Especially when you don’t need to keep track on time/distance for when to walk and when to run, I find it relaxing to just track the whole thing 😃

Yes I agree it’s much more relaxing tracking the whole thing! I’ll go back to doing that I think! I was just interested to know what others did! 😀

In the earlier weeks I did the whole work out but now I am in longer runs I just record the run. I use both Map my Run and Strava as I take an average for distance as I am not convinced either is completely accurate!!!, heading out for Week 8 Run 1 in a bit 😁

I have a Fitbit flex 2 which I might try using as well!! Just to confuse me even more!!

Enjoy your run! That’s my next run on Tuesday!! 😀🏃‍♀️

Yes I record the lot on Mapmyrun ( when I use it at all) - it shows the different Km so I can see the time of the "all run kms" as well as the mixed walk/ jog ones - AND there's beginning to be a difference!! 😂😂

I swithered a bit about which way I would jump with this, but decided on balance that I would rather have the total distance rather than only the running distance for now. Maybe when I am not such a beginner I might only track the running. 😀

On mapmyrun for sure, possibly on other UnderArmour apps, if you go into settings, there is a delay button. I set this for 5 mins. Thats my walk. When mmr says ‘start workout’ i begin my run. Simple!

I started out using the 5 min delayed start button on Map My Run, but it still seemed to be recording the whole thing anyway, and I quite like seeing the elevation v speed thing, and seeing how it changes I’ve the whole outing. So I turned the 5 min delay off.

Part of my thinking was that if I ever shared my runs people would see where I lived if I started it from home! But actually I don’t feel at all tempted to share them (yet!)

I have a simple fitness watch and that tracks my heart rate. So what with turning on the watch ‘run’ mode, map my run, the app, and today the music too separately, it all get too much! I just do it before I start (and usually forget to turn one off!)

Oh the other thing is that mmr is set for KM, whereas my watch is set for miles. I quite like seeing both! :-)

You can change mmr to miles in settings should you wish to. Ive been lucky and haven't had that problem with the delay in the 18 months Ive used it.
