Running outdoors in the sunshine is the best source of natural vitamin D.

It is vital for your bones, which as a runner, are constantly being rebuilt.

Sadly, to get vitamin D from the sun in the UK, it is only available from late March to September (the autumn/winter sun is too weak) - and you have to have quite a bit of skin exposed to avail of it too.

So, in the winter everyone should think about vitamin D supplements

It true what IannodaTruffe says. My first year, just as I started I got diagnosed with vitamin D deficiency and after one course and running outdoors since I haven’t had the problem again, it really perks you up when they kick in, glad you got to the bottom of it.

The latest recommendations from public health England are that adults in the UK don't get enough vitamin d from natural sources in winter and need supplements. No doubt you will be feeling stronger soon. Good luck with the rest of the programme.

I tended to be deficient in VitD often, am not outside often enough and the sun doesn't shine enough in the UK,so am on the supplement Oct-March...🌞

I did it 😁 Did a 5km park run but annoyingly as I arrived as it started didn't get chance to record it on my c25k, but did 5km in 44:18, and only felt wobbly at the last 1km

Yes I am as well!! I have been on supplements for a couple months and all my running is done outside! I will go back for more bloodwork to check in another month and am hoping there has been improvement!!
