Running Motivation

Hiya, what do you do when you really don’t feel like running? I haven’t run in a week and I went out tonight but I really wasn’t up for it so I forced myself to go out. Would it have been better to wait until tomorrow when my motivation may have been higher.

Thank you

If it’s physical then sometimes it works to wait a day. However, if you're anything like me, then it can be easy to let one day become two become three. Im like that with swimming. Sometimes i really cant be bothered and have to force myself, but Im always glad i did.

If you got out of the door you had motivation, so well done.

From a motivational point of view it is best never to put it off until tomorrow if you can do it today.

Write yourself a list of all the reasons why you started C25K and every time you have doubts, just remind yourself of all those reasons.

I don't know what stage you are at in the plan, but many find that within a couple of weeks they can't wait to get out of the door for the next fix. Let's hope the addiction hits you too.

I fling on running gear and rush out quickly before my brain has time to argue!

Tonight I tried taking running gear to work & running somewhere different before going home- that worked well, I will do that again. Good luck 😀

Well, no because your mood may not have been better or your motivation any higher. Just have a schedule and stick to it and don't take any argument from yourself

Good luck!

This is a very good question. I don't really have an answer to it. Maybe find a running buddy - you can then motivate each other and not want to let the other one down. Though finding a running buddy is probably easier said than done. I have motivational (Black Dog) issues quite a lot, but somehow manage to get back to running eventually.

I found out that postin here helps me a lot. I have a lot of encouragement and good vibes sent to me. It's good when I have longer break and I'm not in habit of running. I always want to go oit running when I cannot, and then I find excuses not to run when it's time to gee up. But reading this forum, posting to keep me accountable and that I don't want to let down my running family push me to go out of the door. I don't remember regretting of going out and running, even if it was shorter or with more walking than it supposed to. I always do my best when I'm out there, but I also listen to my body not to pish too hard.

Not what you're looking for?
