C25K - Consolidation Run ...

Well, my first run, post graduation .... consolidating on the C25K program for a couple of weeks trying to maintain the mentality of running for 30 minutes irrespective of the distance covered, before changing tack and running the distance irrespective of the time involved ... which would seem to be the only way to increase my mileage safely ...

It was tough tonight, though its never easy doing 30 minutes on the treadmill, but, I managed to put another one in the back of the net tonight, 30:36 and covered 4.4km, according to the machine.

Dead chuffed, had a right perspiration sheen going on though at the end, not pretty ...need to rest up for a couple of days now, trying to tie things into the Park Run on Saturday ... will try to remember my bar-code next time .... ;-)

As Bluebirdrunner says... Consolidation is the name of the game, getting to the point where the 30 minute runs are comfortable and enjoyably.

try and keep it a slow and steady build up as you progress too; well done!

PS

May I ask, when you run on the treadmill.. is it set with resistance or incline etc? I only ask because I have no real idea!!

Hey Oldfloss , Thank you.

I'm getting comfortable with the 30 minute runs, not too fussed about not achieving the 5k within that time either, just yet, I normally do about 4k to 4.5k depending on how I feel, starting out slow and adding a bit of pace towards the end if I'm feeling up to it.

When I use the treadmill, I use it with incline set at 2%, its not a massive amount but it tells on you after 30 minutes :-( , and I have done that since week 2. I think its a good idea to have the additional resistance, running outside is no snooker table so it prepares you for extra effort that is required.
