W4R1 - surprised myself

I genuinely surprised myself today

Just finished my W4R1 and I honestly feel less tired/ exhausted than I did after W1R1. Is this normal or am I imagining?

I took 2 rest days before this one. R2 will be a test I think... but I am so up for it now!!!

As your fitness improves you will notice it most of all in your recovery times.

Our bodies are amazing things and adapt incredibly quickly.........often quicker than our brains are willing to acknowledge.

Keep going, keep, running, keep smiling.

Thank you.

I keep reminding myself of your post ... that every run is a preparation for the next. It definitely helps as there is nothing to lose and that takes away a lot of stress!!!

It should be fun, not stressful, otherwise you won't keep doing it.

True. I find myself enjoying outdoor runs now as I am starting to figure out if it’s colder, darker, if there are puddles after rain etc and it’s almost like a game that unveils itself as I run... even though I have been running the same path so far, no two runs have been the same. I don’t get to do that when I am on the treadmill and so my mind goes back to the timing and makes it a tad difficult.

I am aware there are lots of resources online about what to wear in winter when you run outdoor and I am planning to get something light , dri fit types but withstanding the cold. Anything else to keep in mind as it starts getting colder?

Apart from watching the road n not fall down of course 😀

Layers is the way to go.

Compression base layers for the coldest weather, long sleeve shirt, running trousers, a buff and gloves, is the most I ever wear.

Make sure you can be seen if running on roads, even well lit ones.

That happened for me too.

It's amazing seeing yourself getting fitter in such a short space of time.

Enjoy 😄
