Despite only being 3Β° outside and with a frost still on the ground, I was very much looking forward to getting out there this morning.
After an Open Day at Brighton University on Saturday, which meant getting up at 5am and returning home at 7pm, and an afternoon of family fun yesterday, I was raring to get out there and run as it had felt like ages since Iβd been out there.
No extra layers but I did put my running hat on and I was very glad that I did.
The ground was frosty βοΈ, the air was crisp π¬, the sun was out βοΈ, the park was absolutely beautiful in its autumn colours π³ππ and I loved every bloody minute of this run πππ»ββοΈ
Everything felt great. My pace. My breathing. My running. My life. My inner peace.
This was the best post graduate run that I have had and itβs one that I wish I could store somewhere and play it back every now and again when Iβm feeling a bit ugh π
Six months ago the very thought of getting up and running on a frosty morning was, well letβs face it, it wasnβt even a flicker let alone a thought but now I welcome these slightly chilly, frosty but beautiful mornings with an anticipation that children, young and old, have for Christmas Day π πΌππ€ΆπΌ
To everyone out there thatβs thinking βCan I really do this?β βCan this C25K program really get me running for 30 mins without collapsing into a heap?β βIs running for me?β then the answer is YES!! Yes, you can. Run because you want to. Run because you can. Run because of the health benefits. Run because of the freedom it gives you. Run because your mental health will improve. Run because youβll sleep better but most of all run because sooner or later, youβll fall in love with running and youβll never ever look back and think βWhy did I think that I couldnβt run?β
Hope you all have a great running week, whatever youβre all up to πππ

Top post Kim! I'm definitely with you on all of that. If people can't get inspired by what you've written then they're soulless buffoons! (Or possibly too in love with their donuts to care!)
Another amazing post, Kim! What beautiful photos - looks like the quintessential bright crisp winter morning. I totally grasp what you mean about the type of run you wish you could record and play back later, and am glad to hear you had one of those. I am sure there will be plenty more in the future.
Testify Kim!! Wonderful post. This was one of those runs that just fell together perfectly. And you recorded it here so you can come back and relive it later on whenever you like! π
Hi great post especially the last paragraph! I am starting wk 6 today, could you tell me what device you used to get the distance, duration split times etc? Thanks
Looks brilliant and a nice pace there too Kim. I am going out tomorrow, in the grime of London but with my new buff, recently gifted by Mr JCR... I donβt suppose I will have the views you did, but an enjoyable run is an enjoyable run to paraphrase/bastardise Irish-John favourite and most useful saying!
This is my first post. Iβve been lurking in the background but have been so motivated by all the great achievements of everyone here. Just completed week 4 run 2 in the dark at 5 degrees with only the hugest orange moon to keep me company. I too love the solitude and have completed each of the runs in the evenings. Iβm definitely not a morning person. I am concerned though that things could get a bit hairy if it gets frosty. Any tips out there?
Welcome to this wonderful forum. A good base layer, gloves, a hat and a running buff. Get these things and you canβt go wrong plus theyβll keep you warm.
